Children's Development

The intention of Childrens Development is to ensure that each student can understand the wide range of opportunities within the field, as well as preparing students for future employment. Learners can use skills and knowledge they learn and apply them to everyday context.  The study of care values is at the heart of these subjects which develop skills such as empathy, compassion, commitment, tolerance, resilience, and empowerment. This enables our students to become educated citizens and contributes to society in a positive way. The curriculum supports the ethos within the school as the subject is broad, balanced, and relevant to the needs of students and employers. The curriculum challenges students to think abstractly, work collaboratively and problem solve to develop curiosity and the desire for knowledge. Students will develop an understanding of health and well-being and how to overcome barriers.  The study of these subjects will be useful for careers involving children(nursery nursing, teaching assistant, nursing, health and social care workers, teaching, health visitors) to name but a few, as well as those who may be interested in having their own families in later life. In addition Studying HSC could lead to a career in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietician and a stepping stone to lots more!
