Catholic Social Teaching

Saint Augustine's Catholic High and Sixth Form School is proud to promote Catholic Social Teachings (CST), which are embedded in our ethos, culture, and curriculum to ensure that students understand their role in the community and the broader world and the positive impact of their actions.

Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Following in the footsteps of Christ, we hope to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love and peace of God. (CAFOD). Catholic Social Teaching is based on the life and words of Jesus Christ, who came "to bring glad tidings to the poor...liberty to captives...recovery of sight to the poor" (Luke 4:18-19).

Catholic Social Teaching helps our school understand the Church’s Mission and how they can make tangible connections to their education. It enriches our student’s education, supporting a faith based and holistic approach to developing the young person.
