Our students experience a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum which seeks to ensure that their learning is continually built upon and knowledge is deepened.
The courses offered enhance attainment and achievement by challenging students to develop insight and independence of thought.
When students join the school in Year 9, our focus is to allow them to personalise their curriculum early on to enable them to pursue their interests. All students have an interview with a member of SLT to support them in making their option choices. The core curriculum of Maths, English, Science and RE continues throughout Key Stage 4 to the end of Year 11. Students also study a Humanities subject together with a language in Y9 to ensure breadth of study alongside a selection of option subjects from both GCSE/BTEC qualifications.

Purpose
Our vision for Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) is to empower students to become confident, compassionate, and informed individuals who are prepared for life in modern Britain. Through a holistic and inclusive curriculum, we aim to nurture the personal development of every student, fostering resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility toward themselves, others, and society; through the lense of the Catholic traditions and teachings.
Core Principles
Promoting Wellbeing and Mental Health
RISE days will equip students with tools to manage their emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. By fostering self-awareness and resilience, we aim to reduce stigma around mental health and encourage students to seek support when needed.
Empowering Informed Decision-Making
We will provide students with accurate, age-appropriate knowledge on relationships, health, and societal issues, enabling them to make informed and responsible choices.
Fostering Inclusivity and Respect
Through RISE days, students will celebrate diversity and learn the importance of respect and empathy in building positive relationships. The curriculum will promote understanding of different cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles, preparing students for life in a diverse society.
Building Life Skills
RISE days will focus on essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, financial literacy, and effective communication. These skills will empower students to thrive in their academic, professional, and personal lives.
Approach
Interactive Learning: Sessions will incorporate discussions, role-play, debates, and project-based activities to ensure active participation.
Student Voice: The curriculum will be co-designed with input from students, ensuring it reflects their needs and interests.
Partnerships: Collaboration with parents, external organisations, and local communities will enhance the delivery of RISE days.
Outcomes
Students who engage in our RISE days will leave school with the knowledge, values, and skills to navigate the complexities of life, contribute positively to society, and achieve their full potential as ethical, informed, and compassionate individuals.
This vision aligns with the national curriculum guidelines and reflects our commitment to developing well-rounded young people who are equipped to thrive in modern society.
